Due to advancement in technology a wireless home theater is becoming better, less expensive, faster and easier to install and use than ever before. It is important, though, not to throw the word "wireless" around too loosely. Currently, all wireless home theater systems still come with a few wires. You can now greatly reduce the clutter of wires that once came with these systems. One very nice feature is that the theater systems of today focus heavily on eliminating trailing speaker wires that at one time wove around the perimeter of your room. Our interest in a wireless home theater system comes from our desire to recreate the movie theater going experience in the comfort and privacy of our own homes. When we think of a theater system, we basically wish to set up in our home a DVD player, a large screen television and a surround sound speaker system. However, many wish to carry it one step further and want a Blu-Ray player, a video projector and projector screen and many (five to seven) surround sound speakers with a powerful subwoofer (this is a loudspeaker that is designed to reproduce very low bass frequencies).

Some home cinema enthusiasts want an entire room for their wireless home theater system. They add movie posters, popcorn and vending machines. And because of the rapid advances in digital audio and video technologies that have spurred a rapid drop in prices, this set-up is becoming more affordable than ever before.

Sony, Samsung and Panasonic offer some of the best wireless home theater systems that are currently on the market. The Sony DAV-HDX576WF has everything you will need to attain a wireless rear speaker set up and a multi-room audio link covering a single room. There are also optional modules that will allow you to cover up to three additional rooms. This is an attractive system with floor standing speakers and it is priced at approximately four hundred dollars.

The Panasonic SC-PT960 will also support wireless multi-room audio with optional modules. It is priced at approximately four hundred dollars as well. Set up is pretty easy with both of these systems. They are considered a "home theater in a box" system and they are much easier to set up than putting together your own system from various components. They both produce a good sound and they both look good.
